THE AMERICA’S CUP MASTERS™
AND THE FLICA PROJECT
These pages are dedicated to the promotion of two great yachting projects:
The America’s Cup Masters and the Flica Project.
The concept for the America’s Cup Masters regatta has evolved from an idea first conceived in the early 1990s and is a fantastic opportunity for a corporate sponsor to help create a new world class sporting event.
And the Flica Project is about the struggle to re-commission one of the most famous and successful racing yachts ever to have been built in England:
Sir Richard Fairey’s iconic 12 Metre yacht Flica.
And that’s why we want to call the principal trophy for the America’s Cup Masters the Flica Cup.
The America’s Cup Masters and the Flica Project both require corporate sponsors and although Flica could be funded by a syndicate, we would prefer to see her ownership transferred to a charitable Trust.
A charitable Trust would have the advantage of maintaining the yacht on the British Register and preserving for the nation a yacht which has been described by the Director of National Historic Ships as: “the most exciting and important maritime heritage project in the United Kingdom”.
But that’s not the only way forward...
If you share the vision and would like to take part in the project to restore this wonderful yacht, join the project team or talk to us about your ideas, corporate opportunities within the Flica Project or the America’s Cup Masters, please contact us, we will be delighted to hear from you.
